Matthew Tracy was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma, a brain tumor, when he was 4 years old in March 2000. He went through many operations and procedures to treat this tumor over the next few years. He eventually lost sight in his left eye and peripheral vision in his right eye. The tumor continued to grow despite the doctor’s best efforts. In March 2009 he started having seizures and suffered a small stroke. Chemo was ended in favor of efforts to keep Matthew comfortable. Matthew passed away Mother’s Day 2009 at 4:30am. He was 13 years old.
Matthew was an artist and spent his time drawing the most amazing images. His creativity was incredible and he drew many very intricate and thought-provoking drawings. In these drawings were lots of daffodils which held special meaning to Matthew and the family. Some of his drawings were also based in his spirituality. One in particular was a picture of him and Jesus walking together and holding hands.
Thank you to the Tracy family for allowing me into their personal life for this painting.
